PICTURE MARK McKEOWN: Dion Mair will swap the grease and overalls this weekend for a kayak and one-piece in the Coast to Coast.

You get the feeling Tauranga's Dion Mair would almost relish a bit of mechanical carnage in Saturday's Speight's Coast to Coast, just so he could whip out his spanner and re-smear his hands with grease.

Papamoa teacher Sonya Thompson, meanwhile, is hoping any breakdowns will be strictly limited to her gear after a frustrating period of injury.

Both Western Bay multisport athletes have had a taste of the Coast to Coast but now they're hoping to dine at the top-10 table this weekend.
