There's no place like home, especially if it's warm and full of good vibes, says fledgling Kiwi professional golfer Danny Lee.
The former Bay of Plenty amateur star has been back in Rotorua for 10 days gorging himself on birdies of the golfing kind at the Springfield course.
It's all part of the master plan for the 19-year-old to re-join the European Tour with confidence this week to play the Malaysian Open event.
"In Texas it's too cold up there at the moment. That's why I came back," Lee said during his short stay. "I also wanted to see all my friends over here and play lots of golf and get a feel for low scoring."
Rotorua's Springfield course isn't the hardest in the world. It's not long but it does help teach better golfers how to beat par and Lee learned that well during his nine years there.
"No matter how hard the golf course is, if you know you're going to shoot under par and if you believe you can shoot under par, you play better than what you expect. I just want to have that confidence back," Lee said.
For the better part of a week Lee has been a regular sight back on the course where he made his name, playing two and sometimes three times a day with the odd visit to Wairakei International near Taupo thrown in.
