Bay of Plenty Rugby is set to announce a second consecutive hefty profit, defying the economic climate and becoming officially solvent again.
Helped by a big Chiefs disbursement, the BOPRU will announce a $144,972 profit at the union's annual meeting in Opotiki on Sunday.
It follows the $190,000 positive yield last year and comes just two years after the record $845,000 loss and subsequent blood-letting.
BOPRU chief executive Jeremy Curragh was thrilled with the result but suggested there are still huge challenges for anyone in the business of sport.
"We view it as a solid result but we're pretty mindful that this year is going to be tougher," Curragh said.
