New Zealand cricket legend Lance Cairns has endorsed Bay of Plenty's upcoming challenge for the prized Hawke Cup, saying their three-pronged pace attack is good enough to hurry any batsman in the country.
Cairns was back in Bay of Plenty over the weekend assisting the Poverty Bay team in their Fergus Hickey Rosebowl clash at the Bay Oval, although the game barely limped into the second day as the home side dished up a 10-wicket defeat.
Cairns, now 60 and resident in Gisborne for almost 12 years, said he liked the look of Bay seamers Te Ahu Davis, former Black Cap Trent Boult and Tony Goodin.
