It's still more than a year before the World Cup reaches these shores but already Bay of Plenty rugby is going global.

A new international academy based in Tauranga is set to attract players from all over the world, with the first intake arriving in April.

Established by player agent and recruitment agency Inside Running, the academy has also got the support of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union, with Steamers staff to provide specialised coaching and conditioning. Head coach Sean Horan, assistant Steve Miln, high-performance coach Paul Feeney and trainer Murray Pederson will be involved.

"Working with the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union adds immediate credibility to the academy and to what we are trying to achieve," Inside Running director and former Tauranga Sports hooker Mike Rogers said.
