Cherrywood Shopping Centre was rocked by a violent incident yesterday when a disturbed man began punching out the windows of the Cherrywood Four Square.

Staff took cover as the man went on a rampage at about 9am.

Acting Senior Sergeant Cam Anderson of the Tauranga Police said they located the man a short distance away and arrested him.

He was taken to hospital and treated for cuts to his hands.
