Welcome Bay Foodmarket robbery: arrest made

Tauranga police executed two search warrants in the Welcome Bay area this morning in relation to the aggravated robbery of the Welcome Bay Foodmarket on 23 August.

On that day two masked offenders entered the store on Welcome Bay Road armed with pistols and demanded money before decamping on foot.

Tauranga Police have arrested and charged a 16 year-old male with aggravated robbery in relation to this incident.

He is appearing in court today.

A second offender is still outstanding and police are actively seeking this person.

Police ask that anyone with any information about this robbery contact the Tauranga Police CIB on 07 577 4300. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
