The beach looks like the best place in the Bay to be this weekend.

The fine, hot weather that has baked the area this week is forecast to continue throughout Anniversary Weekend and beyond.

MetService forecaster Dan Corbett said the daily high for Tauranga was likely to remain about 25C until late next week.

"The whole weekend is looking good. It's definitely some fine-looking weather for the beach, the barbecue, whatever you've got planned.

"The high will stay around right into next week easily into Tuesday, maybe even Wednesday and Thursday."

With the sun will come a fresh breeze which will provide some welcome relief from the heat, he said.

"It doesn't get too hot because we've got that easterly flow."

Inland towards Hamilton, where Parachute Music Festival is being held this weekend, the wind is likely to be weaker and temperatures are likely to be higher, he said.

The wind in some parts of the Bay could reach 30 to 40 knots offshore. In the Coromandel it is expected to be about 15 to 20 knots. "It will certainly be something the boaties will notice. I think there will be a bit more swell."
