What's with these recent earthquakes in the Pacific Region?
A visiting American lecturer will explore the causes and consequences of earthquakes in the Pacific region in a special lecture in Tauranga next Tuesday.
Renowned geophysicist Kevin Furlong, who is on a sabbatical at Waikato University from USA's Penn State University, is visiting Tauranga to present what promises to be a fascinating public lecture at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic's Bongard Centre (lecture theatre 106) in Cameron Rd at 6.30pm.
Prof Furlong will explore the causes and consequences of earthquakes in New Zealand and the Pacific region, including discussions around both the Christchurch earthquake and the more recent earthquake in Japan.
His visit is supported by the University of Waikato's Cultural Committee.
