Treaty settlement for two local iwi

Two Bay of Plenty iwi have received multimillion-dollar Treaty settlements for their suffering during war in the 1860s.

The Government signed deeds of settlement for all outstanding historical Treaty claims with Ngati Rangiwewehi and Tapuika at Ngati Moko Marae in Te Puke.

Each iwi will receive redress of $6 million and specific cultural redress.
