Toddler gets head stuck at day care

File

Fire and ambulance staff were called to rescue a child who got her head stuck in a bookcase at a Tauranga day care centre yesterday.

Firefighters were called to the day care centre about 2pm, where a 1-year-old had wedged her head between two metal bars that were part of the bookcase, said Tauranga Fire Brigade senior station officer Len Sabin.

Firefighters freed the child by cutting away one of the bars and ambulance staff assessed her at the scene.

She was uninjured.
