Tourists Sue and Jim Villamagna felt like they been transported home as they headed to Eat Streat for lunch where the Roots - Dub - Reggae was being served up to diners.

They were among dozens of diners out at lunchtime yesterday being offered the genre of music free by two local disc jockeys - Kane Merrie, aka IntaCepta, and Bwoy Fiyah, aka Johnny Deep.

Mrs Villamagna, who is from New York and is touring New Zealand for 10 days with her husband, said when they heard about the free reggae event they ditched their tour group and headed down to the popular dining area to take it in.

They sat outside Lewishams enjoying the music along with their lunch.

"It's been just great. We only arrived yesterday and we had a bit of free time so thought we'd head down. We had no idea it would be so good. We've come half way around the world and got to hear what we hear at home. It's just unbelievable. We love reggae," she said.

Aucklanders June Soverly and Dave Lintenbom said they felt like they were still at Raggamuffin while eating lunch on Eat Streat.

"We thought when we left Raggamuffin last night that was it for another year but then we headed down here this [Sunday] morning to this. It's just awesome. The festival was great but we were feeling really deflated this morning when we woke up because the music had stopped," Miss Soverly said.

"It is definitely an added bonus on top of a perfect music festival."

Roots - Dub - Reggae organiser Merrie said they had received lost of positive feedback from people taking in the free dining and music experience.
