Teens accused of taxi driver bashing back in court

The two teenagers accused of robbing a Tauranga taxi driver have been remanded on bail when they re-appeared before Judge Peter Rollo in Tauranga District Court this morning.

The assault on the taxi driver happened on Ohauiti Rd in the night of 23 and 24 January.

 The victim spent a night in Tauranga Hospital and was treated for head injuries.

Timote Manu (19) and Jared Dixon (18) face a joint charge of aggravated robbery.

Police no longer opposed bail for the pair this morning.

They have been remanded on bail by Judge Peter Rollo.

One of the bail conditions is a 24-hour curfew.

Mr Manu and Mr Dixon have been remanded on bail without plea and are expected to re- appear in Tauranga District Court on 5 March.
