In court: Teen charged with Waihi Beach murder
The 18-year-old charged with the murder of Murray Wilkinson at Waihi Beach on New Year's Day was remanded in custody at Tauranga District Court this morning.
Mr Wilkinson died of stab wounds to his head and neck.
The teen's lawyer Paul Mabey QC successfully sought a continuation of his client's name suppression order.
Judge Robert Wolff agreed suppression should remain in the interest of ensuring a fair trial.
The accused will make a bail application in Tauranga District Court on Wednesday.
