Te Puke teen remains behind bars
A Te Puke 18-year-old charged with robbing a man in a wheelchair at gunpoint remains behind bars.
Kainamu Paul, who appeared in the Tauranga District Court this week facing a charge of aggravated robbery, is due back in court tomorrow to make a bail application.
The robbery is alleged to have occurred in Donovan St, Te Puke, on November 30.
Paul is accused of entering a home with a sawn-off shotgun before taking a wallet containing cash and ID.
Meanwhile, a Te Puke man charged with a raft of cannabis and firearm charges after his car and his former partner's home were searched has been freed on bail on strict conditions.
Justin Rangiteaorere Raki, 43, faced one charge each of cultivates cannabis and possession of cannabis for supply, and two charges each of unlawful possession of restricted weapons and possession of ammunition when he appeared in the Tauranga District Court this week.
Police allege that when they searched Raki's vehicle last month they found a stun gun and during a search of his ex-partner's address they found two firearms, a sawn-off shotgun and a Remington 7-10 rifle, plus 47 rounds of ammunition.
It is also alleged illicit drugs were found on the property - 121 cannabis seedlings and 13 one-ounce packages of cannabis.
Raki, who is yet to plead to the charges, has been granted bail on strict conditions, including reporting to police three times a week. He is due back in court on January 16.
