Te Puke fisherman died of injuries after bike crash

Provisional post-mortem results reveal Te Puke man Bennett White died of severe head and chest injuries after a motorbike accident on Rogers Beach, near Otamarakau, on the evening of Sunday, January 27.

Mr White had driven down the beach to set long-lines but did not return.

From the interim post-mortem report, a Tauranga police spokesperson said it was believed Mr White's death was caused by injuries sustained from falling off a motorcycle.

The spokesperson said the results were preliminary and the full results would not be released for about six weeks.
