Police have arrested two men after they allegedly threatened a Tauranga taxi driver this morning.

Tauranga police Senior Sergeant Mark Holmes said the two men were arrested on Doncaster Dr in Papamoa about 4.10am today.

Mr Holmes said the taxi driver picked the men up and there was some threatening behaviour in the taxi.

"When there's two people against one person that can be just as frightening," he said.

The two men have been charged with threatening behaviour and will appear in Tauranga District Court today.
