Tauranga to lead New Zealand's Earth Hour
As Tauranga prepares to lead New Zealand's Earth Hour celebrations on Saturday World Wildlife Fund (WWF) New Zealand is launching a $60,000 fund to help restore fragile coastal ecosystems affected by the Rena grounding.
WWF's Bay of Plenty Restoration Fund was established after $30,000 was received from WWF supporters nationwide, with a further $30,000 coming from The Tindall Foundation.
Local community groups, iwi or hapu groups involved with conservation in the Western Bay are encouraged to apply.
The fund opens today and closes on April 27.
