A man accused of robbing and bashing a taxi driver in January has been remanded in custody after appearing in Tauranga District Court this morning.

The assault on the taxi driver happened on Ohauiti Rd in the night of 23 and 24 January.

Jared Dixon (18) pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated robbery and will be back in court for sentencing on March 9.

Dixon's co-accused, Timote Manu (19), is yet to plead.

He is due back in court on March 21.
