Surge in crashes disappoints police
The number of crashes in the Western Bay of Plenty more than doubled in a week police have described as "disappointing''.
Last week police were called to 25 crashes in the Western Bay, up from their weekly average of 12.
Head of road police for the Western Bay Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said he was disappointed in the figures.
``Road safety is everybody's responsiblilty. I wouldn't like to have another week like this,'' Mr Campion said.
