Skateboarder out of intensive care

The 14-year-old skateboarder who was struck by a car in the 70km/h section of Maunganui Rd on Saturday has been moved from the intensive care unit of Tauranga Hospital into the children's ward.

The boy is believed to have suffered a head injury.

But the 61-year-old Mount Maunganui motorcyclist who suffered serious arm, shoulder, torso and pelvis injuries after a crash involving a van near the same spot remains in ICU in a stable condition.
