Severe storm warning
MetService has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the South Waikato, Matamata-Piako, Western Bay of Plenty, Whakatane and Rotorua districts.
At 2.07pm, MetService detected thunderstorms near Matamata, Waharoa, the Kaimai Ranges, Te Poi, and Hinuera.
The storms are expected to lie near Rotorua, the Mamaku Plateau, Ngongotaha and Otanewainuku at 2.37pm and near Rotorua, Waitapu, Waikete Valley, Rototiti and Lake Tarawera at 3.07pm.
