Police File

A brazen thief attempted to steal from a Bethlehem business yesterday afternoon.

About 1.15pm, a staff member at Bethlehem Hair Design disturbed a man who was rifling through a handbag at the back of the store. When the employee confronted the offender, he was shoved up against a wall.

The offender then ran out the back of the State Highway 2 store and along the trade access way, towards Carmichael Rd, Tauranga Senior Sergeant Mark Pakes said.

Police described the offender as a male Maori, aged between 28-30 and about 190cm tall.

He was clean-shaven with long sideburns and a teardrop tattoo under his left eye. The man was wearing a dark blue Adidas tracksuit with stripes.
