A man has been charged with the murder of Rae Portman, whose body was found on a south Auckland farm four months after her family reported her missing.

The 32-year-old man was initially charged with kidnapping but the additional charge of murder was laid in Papakura District Court this morning.

He raised his eyebrows and mouthed words to supporters in the public gallery when he appeared briefly in the dock before being remanded in custody.

He will appear again later this month.

A 35-year-old south Auckland man has also been charged with kidnapping Ms Portman on June 20 or 21.

Ms Portman, 33, was four months pregnant when her family reported her missing. Her body was found when police officers visited an Ardmore farm last month.
