Psa infections dramatically up

APNZ

Fifty-three new Psa-V infections were reported to Kiwifruit Vine Health in the past week, dramatically up on the five recorded the week before.

However, KVH said the increase reflects information collected by pack houses over several weeks.

The new figures bring the total number of orchards with infected vines to 1030, 824 of them in Te Puke. Of the new infections, 45 were in Te Puke and right in Tauranga.

Psa-V has been found on Bay of Plenty orchards in the following areas: Te Puke (824); Tauranga (97); Whakatane (47); Opotiki (30); Katikati (13); Waihi (14); as well as in South Auckland on five orchards in Franklin. See www.kvh.org.nz/statistics.
