Papamoa primary children won't have to pound the pavement to get loads of lollies this Halloween if they don't want to as Changepoint church is once again hosting a Light Party as a positive alternative to Halloween.

The theme this year is "It's a Jungle Out There".

Organiser Pat Thomson says the event is a great option for parents who do not like the sinister side of the October 31st tradition but don't want their kids to feel like they are missing out.

"Kids love the idea of trick or treating because they want loads of lollies, but many people don't like the gross costumes or knocking on the doors of strangers. The kids who come to our party will have fun and lollies in a safe and positive environment", she said.

It will be the third Light Party held by the Changepoint church and entries will be limited to the first 150 children through the doors of the Papamoa Community Centre, which is part of the library building.

Scary costumes will not be permitted and entry is by gold coin donation.

The doors will open at 6.30pm and the party will finish at 8pm.

Primary children from Year 0 - 6 are welcome to attend.
