A man is in custody after a foot chase through Bureta today.

A north communications spokesperson told the Bay of Plenty Times police were hunting a man who had run through a private property in Bureta about midday today.

The spokesperson said police were also in the area searching for a man wanted on an arrest warrant.

It is unclear whether the two call-outs were related.

The police shift commander said a "person of interest" had been taken into custody.

"It wasn't a biggie. There was no danger to the public and I'm not going to give out any further information."

There were reports of about 6-7 police cars in the area.
