Police are zeroing in on a man they believe used a stolen credit card at up to five different shops, following a spate of burglaries around the Yatton Park area in Greerton.

Senior Sergeant Lew Warner, of Tauranga South Police, said officers had attended a number of burglaries in the area over the last month.

At one of the burglaries, a beige wallet containing an American Express credit-card and other items was stolen.

"This card was later fraudulently used at five separate shops in the Tauranga area. The person using this card has been captured on CCTV footage and we need the public's help to identify him."

Mr Warner said a number of burglaries occurred at homes which had insecure doors and windows which thieves took advantage of.

If you have any information about who has been committing these burglaries or can identify the person in the photograph, contact Constable Matthew Valentine at Tauranga South Police Station, phone (07) 578 3460.
