Police get their man after car chase
A 20-year-old Mount Maunganui man was arrested on Girven Road after a police pursuit yesterday afternoon.
The man had ditched the car, a dark blue Ford Falcon with tinted windows and no rear number plate, on Stawell Avenue near Bayfair and continued on foot.
Police followed with a tracker dog and caught him on Girven Rd, Sergeant Steve Hindmarsh said.
The man was arrested and will be charged with failing to stop and driving while disqualified.
