Coronation Park was alive with music and entertainment for the Rotary Club's Picnic in the Park.

Saturday's event showcased a line-up of mostly Bay musicians and acts, including the Wau Taiko drummers, Tauranga Intermediate Boys' Choir and NZ's Got Talent star Fletcher Oxford.

The picnic was held to raise funds for Waipuna Hospice.

Stefan Watkin, 41, from Omanu said Saturday was the ninth anniversary of his father's death, who died from a heart attack at age 60, and he wanted to do something special with his daughter Savanah.

"I also went along to throw in a few dollars to support Waipuna Hospice who do fantastic work.

"The entertainment was great. I particularly enjoyed the young cheerleaders and highland dancers who both put on a great show, and Brendan Dugan was just the man, and young Fletcher is definitely a talented young man."
