The re-opening of Otumoetai Pool scheduled for this morning has been thwarted by problems with the pool's pump.

A Tauranga City Council spokeswoman said contractors have had some problems with the installation of the new pump.

"The pool won't be open by 10am as initially indicated but are hopeful the problem will be sorted by the end of the day."

Club members or concession card holders have been advised they are able to swim at Baywave until the issue resolved.

The pool has been closed since Saturday after temperatures dropped significantly.

When inspected, small stones were found in the pool pump.

Meanwhile, the Greerton Aquatic Centre will be closed from September 17 to October 12 while the pools are repainted.

The Clubfit facilities will remain open.

Work is also being done at Mount Hot Pools. The facility is currently being re-roofed.

It is expected this work will be completed by October 26.
