The number of cases of norovirus at Tauranga Hospital has fallen overnight.

Hospital staff members are now planning the necessary steps to reopen wards that have been closed due to norovirus.

Over recent days Tauranga Hospital and staff have been taking all possible measures to avoid the further spread of norovirus - a highly contagious viral gastroenteritis.

During this phase active precautions are still being taken to prevent further spread of the virus.

If visiting Tauranga Hospital please wash your hands thoroughly, especially after going to the toilet.

Please do not visit patients on the wards if you have had vomiting or diarrhoea symptoms in the last 48 hours.
