A Judea man accused of bashing and robbing two teenage men in Waihi Rd in June has been committed to the High Court for trial.

Roretana Rolleston, 21, faces two joint charges of aggravated robbery.

He appeared in Tauranga District Court yesterday and was further remanded in custody to appear in the High Court at Rotorua on October 18.

No trial date has yet been set.

The charges stem from allegations that he and five others attacked then robbed the two complainants of alcohol and a cellphone in Waihi Rd on June 10 this year.

Rolleston was set to make a bail application yesterday but bail was opposed by police as the address he proposes to live at is a condemned property, and an alternative address is not yet available.

His alleged co-offenders are due to appear in Tauranga District Court today.
