New use for old poles
Old poles that once supported Coronation Pier will be incorporated into the Hairy Maclary waterfront sculpture.
The nine bronze statues of Hairy Maclary and friends will feature three poles from the pier.
The pier was part of the Tauranga waterfront for more than 50 years.
The poles have been stored at a local marae for use in future waterfront projects.
