Rotorua MP Todd McClay will launch the Government's new Code of Practice for Safety and Health in Forest Operations in Rotorua on Wednesday.

The New Zealand Government has identified the forestry sector as one of five priority sectors which have consistently
poor performance in health and safety.

Forestry has the highest rate of fatal work-related injuries out of the five priority sectors.

As part of efforts to reduce the injury and fatality rate in forestry, Mr McClay will launch the new code of practice at the Forest Industry Contractors Association at the Distinction Hotel from 10am.
