On the eve of lead singer Jeremy Redmore's final show with former band Midnight Youth this weekend at Homegrown, the newly "single" songwriter is gearing himself up to make a new musical statement.

Redmore, formerly of Tauranga, announced he was leaving Midnight Youth, along with the record deal that went with the band, in September last year. Now, 013 finds Redmore ready to show why he's put himself through this whirlwind of change.

His first single, titled 'One Day Alone', was recorded at Neil Finn's Roundhead Studios with producer Wayne Bell (Gin Wigmore, Jan Hellriegel, Andrew Keoghan) and is set for release in April along with a creatively-inspired music video.

Redmore and high-school friend/director Michael Humphrey have curated the creation of six 29-second clips made by independent film makers from around the world (who have no contact with eachother) that will be slotted into the track, much like puzzle pieces, to form the resulting, fully-formed, music video.

This creative, DIY approach has also carried over into the development of songs for what will become Redmore's debut solo release.

Redmore has been exposing his bedroom demos to a building base of personal fans on his social media sites in order to garner constructive feedback on the tunes before they are thrust into the world of studio recording.

"I don't see why artists often hide and rarely expose the initial creative bursts of songs from their fans. I personally couldn't think of a more fascinating journey to go on with an artist than to share the creative one - from rough bedroom recording, through to polished studio and release."
