New artists' award Bay artists have until tomorrow to get their entries in for the second Miles Art Award at Tauranga Art Gallery.

The biennial award, which is open to all Bay of Plenty artists aged over 18, will feature a new category this year-The Mayor's Award for an Emerging Artist.

The award is named after Venetta Miles, an original donor to the Tauranga Art Gallery, in recognition of her generosity and foresight.

Gallery director Penelope Jackson said the exhibition, which runs from September 22 to November 4, was an opportunity for visitors to see the wealth of creative talent in the Bay of Plenty.

The non-refundable entry fee per work is $30.

Exhibition works may be sold with 20 per cent of all sales going to the Tauranga Art Gallery's collection, acquisition and maintenance fund.

Entry forms are available at the Gallery, or by email, or the gallery website at www.artgallery.org.nz
