New Zealand's largest mussel processing plant, located in Greerton, Tauranga, is up for sale.

North Island Mussel Processors was last month put in receivership following the inability of one of the three partners to pay its bills.

The receivers, William Black and Andrew Grenfell of McGrathNicol, have advertised the business for sale in major national newspapers.

The closing date for expressions of interest was last Friday.

Mr Black said the receivers have had a very pleasing level of interest expressed in the business and assets of the company.

The receivers are maintaining business-as-usual status while looking to sell the business and assets of the company as a going concern, he said.

"No jobs have been lost as a result of the receivership, with all management and employees of the company having been retained to continue the business-as-usual operations."
