You just know that when Alvin's about nothing is going to go to plan.

There is no doubt Alvin and his chipmunk mates are a lot of fun and their hi-jinks are certain to make youngsters laugh. And Chipwrecked is no different.

Dave (Jason Lee) decides his team - chipmunks Alvin, Simon and Theodore and chipettes Eleanor, Jeanette and Brittany - deserves a holiday, so off on a cruise they go.

Pretty soon, Alvin takes over - and chaos begins.

If he is not taking over the bridge, he is gambling the night away in the casino and charming the ladies. Not bad for a young chipmunk!

But, as always, Alvin goes a little overboard, literally. Singlehandedly, he takes the chipmunks to the air on a hang-glider and to a remote island a long way from civilisation.

On the island, Alvin begins to see the error of his ways and decides it is time he took some responsibility and ensure the safety of his friends. With the help of newly adventurous Simon (courtesy of a spider bite), Alvin and the island's mysterious resident, Zoe (Jenny Slate), must find safety and hope Dave can rescue them before the island's volcano erupts.

The chipmunks certainly seem to have tapped the children's viewing market.

The pre-teen crowd must be able to relate to Alvin's antics and be able to tune into their wonderful voices. And you have to love the animation that brings these funny creatures to life.
