Chalet Girl is not going to pick up any international awards, but that doesn't stop it being a great film for young teenagers.

With a Cinderella theme, it tells the story of Kim (Felicity Jones), who is trying to look after her dad after the death of her mum in a car accident.

With dad a bit of a mess, Kim has to hold things together and earn enough money to keep the household afloat.

When the opportunity comes up to take on a better-paying job as a chalet girl at an Austrian ski resort, Kim reluctantly jumps at it because she knows how valuable that extra money will be.

But Kim will have to step into an unknown world - a place where she'll be dealing with the rich and snobby.

Struggling at first, Kim soon learns the ropes in the chalet and later on the slopes. A champion skateboarder in her youth, Kim hasn't competed since her mother's death.

On the snow, she is soon encouraged to use her natural ability to tackle snowboarding and to try to win some big money at an annual winter competition.

Along the way she finds love with someone not in her league but who is able to see the real Kim.

The snow-clad Austrian slopes provide a spectacular backdrop to many scenes.

Chalet Girl is good fun and surprisingly wholesome in this day and age.
