Motorist dead after second SH2 crash
A motorist has died following a serious crash between a truck and a car at the intersection of State Highway 2 and State Highway 25, near Waitakaruru.
Police say the accident occured at about 1.30pm and emergency services are now in attendance.
The intersection is the Coromandel turn-off for travellers from Auckland.
Northbound traffic is being diverted onto Cross Road to State Highway 25, which will then allow access back onto state Highway 2.
The accident is the second to happen on SH2 this afternoon.
A concrete truck overturned on the highway near Apata Station Road just after midday.
No one was hurt and the road has since been cleared.
