Mosquito at Classic Flyers from 3.00pm today

The only flying De Havilland Mosquito in the world will visit Tauranga today. The aircraft is scheduled to arrive at Classic Flyers around 3.00pm.

It is the first Mosquito to fly anywhere in the world for nearly 20 years after it was rebuilt at Ardmore Aerodrome in Auckland.

The Mosquito will be on display by Classic Flyers members (don't forget your ID) and the general public at Classic Flyers Museum until 4:30pm.

In conjunction with the arrival of the iconic aircraft, the Aviation Historical Society will hold a special meeting at 6pm open to the public, which will allow enthusiasts to see the aircraft up close.

Entry to the meeting is from 5:30pm onwards and a charge of $5.00 will be asked to cover costs. Entry is free to Classic Flyers members. 

People will have the opportunity to listen to a presentation by Keith Skilling, the current pilot, on his recent experience of flying the Mosquito. 

The team responsible for the reconstruction will also be present.

Following the Bay display, the aircraft's owner, Jerry Yagen, is set to take the plane to the USA.
