Man charged for assaulting ex-Steamers player

Police have charged a 22-year-old Te Puna man in relation to the assault on former Steamers player Simon Chisholm.

Mr Chisholm was punched unconscious during a premier-grade match last month.

Detective Sergeant Darryl Brazier told the Bay of Plenty Times this morning that the arrested man had been charged
with injuring with intent to injure and was due appear in Tauranga Registrar's Court on Thursday.

Te Puke Sports hooker Simon Chisholm spent two days in hospital following the alleged assault.
