For more than 10 years the Bay of Plenty Times Christmas Light Trail has provided the community with a guide to houses adorned in Christmas lights.

Trail guides are free inside the Bay of Plenty Times on December 4, 11, 18, 20 and 24.

Dayna Comeskey, events and promotions co-ordinator, has been running the Christmas Light Trail for the past three years.

"Organising the Christmas Light Trail each year is one of my favourite tasks," Ms Comeskey said.

"I love Christmas and each year I take my two daughters around to view the amazing displays.

"Being able to organise this event is my way of helping the community enjoy this annual tradition as much as we do," Ms Comeskey said.

"I'm so grateful for the time and effort people put into decorating their houses."

The event raises money for the not-for-profit Newspapers in Education programme, which provides free newspapers to students and families in the Bay of Plenty.

Registration forms are inside the Bay of Plenty Times every day or people interested in taking part can drop an email to promotions@bayofplentytimes.co.nz.

See today's Bay of Plenty Times for the Light Trail map.
