Tauranga students are doing what they can to help rebuild Christchurch but they need support.

Bay of Plenty Polytechnic radio students are hosting a 24 hour radiothon on student station SubFM.

The fundraiser kicks off at midday on Monday and ends midday on Tuesday.

The money raised will be used to send more carpentry students to Christchurch to lend a hand with the rebuild.

Carpentry students and tutors have already made several trips down to work with Habitat for Humanity's Christchurch Earth quake Rebuild Volunteer Project, which is helping families in need by making their homes liveable again.

The radiothon will feature a line up of events including on air shows and in studio entertainment as well as on campus events.

SubFM transmits on 88.3FM in the city and 107.7FM in Windermere.

Radio students will be out about collecting with buckets through out the Polytechnic campuses and in the CBD on Monday and Tuesday.

Alternatively donations can be made directly to the bank account 03 0435 0470124 00, reference number 72150510.
