Local author named in top 5
Dame Lynley Dodd's classic Hairy Maclary From Donaldson's Dairy has been named one of the most loved children's books in New Zealand.
The book about the scampering pooch and his four-legged friends was voted fourth by Kiwi readers in the Whitcoulls' Kids' Top 50 books.
Hairy Maclary joins The Hunger Games series, the Harry Potter series, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and The Very Hungry Caterpillar in the top five.
In total, nine titles in the Top 50 were by New Zealand writers.
