Unwrapping and putting away $10,000 worth of crockery and electronics took most of the morning for St Mary's School PTA members and students.

The school won the home-theatre package donated by Bethlehem Smith City during the Bay of Plenty Times Big Charity Auction last year.

Principal Ben Fuller said the prize would allow the school hall, which had been completed about a year ago, to be used as much as possible by the school as well as by the community.

The televisions would be paired with iPads and used by students for computer-based learning.
