A Tauranga man who waved a large metal wrench at a young woman who discovered him at her Waitaha Rd property last month has been jailed for two years and three months. Jordan Hall, 21, who pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon with intention to commit a burglary, possession of cannabis, breach of bail and three breaches of community work, was sentenced in Tauranga District Court yesterday.

The court was told that on July 31 after an intoxicated Hall waved the wrench he fled on foot and was pursued by police for 40 minutes through Welcome Bay, before being apprehended. Judge Thomas Ingram said Hall required a sentence which would put him in the hands of the Parole Board which would set rules around his future release.
