Items removed from house before fire

Police investigating the arson of a home on Ohauiti Rd believe furnishings were taken from inside the house before it was gutted by a fire.

Emergency services were called to the two-storey house in Ohauiti Rd on August 15.

Sergeant Carolyn Crawford-Smith of the Western Bay Intelligence Group said police believed a large number of house furnishings had been removed from the address about five days before the fire.

A large outdoor water tank was also believed to be removed and taken away from the property on the back of a HI AB truck.

Police would like to hear from any trucking company or contractor who may have hired out a Hi AB truck over that period.

Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact Detective Logan Nicholas of the Tauranga Police on 5774385. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
