Intruder in young girl's bedroom

Tauranga detectives are currently investigating an intruder burglary in Oceanview Road, Mount Maunganui.

Police officers are speaking to a 7-year-old girl who has advised police that she was woken by a man who was in her bedroom last night. 

A detail scene examination is being completed and the young girl is being interviewed by a specialised interviewer.

The offender is described as a male Maori in his thirties with a Mohawk hair style and earrings in his left ear.

Senior Sergeant Lew Warner states that Police would like to talk to anyone who has seen suspicious behaviour in the Sutherland Road, Oceanview area overnight, or any suspicious activity in this area over recent weeks.

Senior Sergeant Warner says this is an important reminder that if people see something they should say something.
